The hotel is located at the top of a slope so it appears to be difficult to reach on foot but I have to confess I have not tried to do so myself so I cannot confirm my own opinion. The staff were lovely and polite, even the shuttle service driver and spa staff. Very friendly lady checked us in at the concierge but I didn’t get her name. The room rates aren’t cheap compared to other hotels in the area but their facilities are well worth it. The outdoor hot spring is beautiful and there’s artificial snow generated at half hourly intervals, making it a very quaint and pleasant experience even though it’s spring when I visited. It wasn’t busy and I had the entire place to myself! Perks of traveling off peak! The room also had some complimentary beverages, fruits and desserts like macaroons and tarts for guests to enjoy. Turndown service came with 2 pieces of artisan chocolate. Their breakfast spread is modest but definitely sufficient. We had our dinner at the same restaurant and food is on par, as expected of hotels in the same class. A worthwhile splurge on ourselves for this trip!

Hotel is located at the top of the hill, so requires some climbing if travelling on foot. Other than the location, everything about Gaia hotel is excellent. The Qiyan room has its own private onsen in the bathroom and the breakfast spread was fantastic.
