Dead Sea Jordan sits at more than 430 metres below sea level, making it one of the lowest bodies of water in the world. On a calm day, the cobalt-blue water is smooth as glass. Bask on the golden foreshore and take a dip in the mineral-rich water famous for its healing properties.
A local favourite, Amman Beach is one of the best places to take a dip in Dead Sea Jordan. The water is 10 times saltier than the ocean, which means you’ll float rather than swim. Slather your skin in the jet-black mud to enjoy the healing properties that were once coveted by Cleopatra and Queen Sheba.
On the north coast, you can escape to luxury hotels and spas. Relax by palm-lined swimming pools and indulge in massages and wellness treatments infused with Dead Sea salt. Further south, you’ll find upscale resorts perched on the clifftops that boast sweeping views over the Dead Sea.
Dead Sea Jordan stretches for around 30 kilometres along the land-locked sea. The main resort strip is a one-hour drive from Amman and 45 minutes from Madaba. Renting a car is the best way to explore Dead Sea Jordan at your own pace.
