Mosel Wine Region produces some of the finest Rieslings in the world. Highly acidic with a touch of sweetness, German Rieslings bottled in the Mosel Wine Region are coveted around the world. More than 200 vineyards dot the region, most producing highly acidic wine balanced with a hint of sweetness and notes of lime, honeydew melon and apricot.
The region is fed by the Mosel River, which starts in France and flows into Germany before meeting the Rhine. Gold-label vineyards dot the riverbank and take advantage of the rich soils and warm microclimate. Alongside Riesling, Müller-Thurgau is another iconic grape grown in the Mosel Wine Region. You’ll also see a smattering of Auxerrois, Elbling, Kerner, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris.
Trier, a lively city set on the Mosel River, is a great base for touring the region. Visit ancient Roman ruins, admire the centuries-old cathedral and dine at authentic German restaurants.

Mosel Wine Region is located in Germany, close to the Belgium and Luxembourg borders. Rental cars are the best way to explore the region at your own pace. You can also join guided tours run by local operators. Trier is a 2.5-hour drive from Frankfurt and 3.5 hours by train.
