Noyemberyan is a picturesque town surrounded by forested hills and glassy lakes. The town is nestled in the foothills of the Gugark Mountains and showcases the raw and rugged natural beauty of Armenia.
Noyemberyan is home to three Cyclopean fortresses that recall the town’s ancient past. The oldest dates to the 2nd millennium BC and features soaring stone walls and sweeping views over the countryside.
Perched on a forested Plateau, Mshkavank Monastery dates to the 13th century and welcomes visitors with an imposing façade built with enormous stone blocks. Step inside to admire the cavernous church. Above the altar is a stylised cross decorated with a carving of a bull’s head.
Noyemberyan features a handful of cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy traditional Armenian food. Save your appetite for charcoal-grilled “khorovat” skewers, spiced “kyufta” minced meat and “dolmas” wrapped in vine leaves.
Feeling adventurous? Lace up your boots and explore scenic trails that wind through the Armenian countryside. Some take you to beautiful lakes and others lead to hilltop churches.
Noyemberyan is located in the Armenian countryside, a four-hour drive from Yerevan. The town is compact and easy to get around on foot. Rental cars offer the freedom to explore Noyemberyan and the surrounding countryside at your own pace.
