About Kardítsa

Modern Karditsa is one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in Greece, thanks to its flat terrain and wide streets. With the castle ruins and attractive parks, you’ll want to spend much of your time outside, soaking up the sunshine.

Things to do in Kardítsa

One of Karditsa’s biggest cultural highlights is the well preserved Fanari Castle. Climb the towers and walls of this historic landmark, and you’ll be rewarded with impressive views over Karditsa.

Right in the centre of the city is Pafsilipo Park, the perfect retreat from the heat of the sun. Parts of the park are wooded, with plenty of lawn space to set up a picnic. Peacocks strut their stuff along the walking paths, while both kids and adults can enjoy the small zoo.

Karditsa has two museums, The Archaeological Museum of Karditsa and The Photo Film Museum. The archaeological collection charts the city’s development from prehistoric times to the present day and the galleries are arranged thematically. The marble statuettes from the Asklepeion at Kierio are especially well preserved.

Getting around Kardítsa
