Kodaikanal Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 71 course set among the wooded hillsides and rolling grasslands of South India. The course sits at an elevation of 2,220 metres and was founded in 1895 by a group of local golf enthusiasts.
The scenic course meanders through the Palani Hills and challenges players with tree-lined fairways and hidden greens. You can spot local wildlife, including wild boars, Brahminy kites, barking deer and white-stockinged bison. Look out for monkeys swinging in the trees. The 6th hole is called ”Tiger” after the big cats that once lurked around the green.
After a round of golf, retreat to the clubhouse for a glass of Kingfisher and a hearty meal. There's also a billiards room for club members, while the netted driving range is great for practising your swing before a round.
Getting there
Kodaikanal Golf Club is a 15-minute drive from Kodaikanal in the state of Tamil Nadu. Parking is available on site and local taxis and rickshaws are available. The golf club is a 3.5-hour drive from Madurai and 6.5 hours from Cochin International Airport.
