The most prominent landmarks in Lac-Megantic are the asymmetrical, neo-Gothic spires of the Saint Agnes Church, which lies in the heart of the downtown area. Dating back to 1913, the interior features stunning stained-glass windows, while the soaring spires are illuminated majestically at night.
Soak up the lakeside views during a round of golf at the Lac Mégantic Golf Club, which has an 18-hole course surrounded by beautiful woodlands. Tackle the variety of challenging holes or sharpen your skills in the practice area with a driving range, putting green and training sand trap.
Enjoy a scenic drive along the 193-kilometre-long Summit Drive, which extends through the mountainous landscapes and villages of southern Quebec. Explore the charming villages of La Patrie and Saint-Adrien, then stay until it’s dark to experience the incredible night sky vistas in what has been designated an International Dark Sky Reserve.
Challenge yourself at the canopy adventure playground From Tree to Tree, where 66 different stations overlook the waters of Lac-Megantic. You can fly across the elevated zip-lines and negotiate the wobbly rope bridges, as its courses are specifically designed for adults, teenagers and young children.
Getting around Lac-Mégantic
Lac-Megantic is around two hours’ drive from Quebec City and Jean Lesage International Airport and three hours from Montreal. The town is compact enough to explore on foot, but having your own vehicle is best for accessing the surrounding sights.
