Located in the heart of Chicago, Millennium Park is a public park originally intended to celebrate the third millennium. It boasts a state-of-the-art collection of architecture, landscape design and art. It also plays host to events throughout the year, from cultural programs and concerts to exhibitions and family activities.
Sitting amongst the towering skyscrapers is this tranquil oasis within Chicago’s Grant Park. Snap photos of yourself at Cloud Gate, known as the “Bean”, and cross the BP Bridge for impressive views of the surrounding area and access to Maggie Daley Park.
Catch a music event in Jay Pritzker Pavilion, a 36-metre-tall structure designed to look like ribbons flowing in the wind, or take a break in the one-hectare Lurie Garden. Kids will love the water spouts at Crown Fountain, while nearby Magnificent Mile and the Art Institute of Chicago offer a dose of culture.
Getting there
Millennium Park is on the east side of downtown Chicago, bordered by Michigan Avenue, Columbus Drive, Randolph Street and Monroe Street. It’s easily accessed via CTA buses or the subway to the Randolph stop, while parking garages are available nearby. It’s around 30 minutes from O’Hare International Airport.
