About University of Canterbury

The University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand is the country’s second-largest university. The university’s main campus in the suburb of Ilam is around five kilometres from the centre of Christchurch. University of Canterbury is easy to reach in just under 15 minutes by car from Christchurch city centre. Buses operate from main bus stops throughout the city. The University of Canterbury began in 1873 as Canterbury College. The chosen professors arrived from the UK a year after it opened.
