About Williamsport

Serving as the seat of Lycoming County, Williamsport is a cultural and commercial hub in central Pennsylvania. It was originally inhabited by the Iroquois people before European colonists established a lumber settlement here in the late 18th century. In the lead-up to the Civil War, Williamsport played an active role on the Underground Railroad.

Don’t miss the Trinity Episcopal Church with its soaring spire and the beautifully landscaped Ways Garden Park. Also within the district is the Italian Villa-style Peter Herdic House, which belonged to one of Williamsport’s former mayors.

Exhibits detailing the history of north-central Pennsylvania can be found at the Taber Museum, which was established in 1907 in the heart of Millionaires’ Row. On the other side of the Susquehanna River is the World of Little League Museum, which showcases the history of Little League Baseball from 1939 to the modern day. In addition to its interactive exhibits, it is home to a Hall of Excellence honouring notable players. The museum is located adjacent to the Howard J.
