About Amadores

Perched on the south-west coast of Gran Canaria, Amadores is a sweeping crescent of sand located between the towns of Puerto Rico and Puerto Mogan. It’s well-protected from the North Atlantic Ocean by breakwaters and received the prestigious Blue Flag award in 2004 for its water quality, safety and management.

Things to do in Amadores

Spend a day sunbathing on Amadores’s 800-metre stretch of golden sand and enjoy swimming in the refreshing waters. Translated as “Lover’s Beach”, Amadores has a more laid-back vibe than other beaches on Gran Canaria, with no ball games or loud music permitted. In addition to shower facilities, there are plenty of bars and restaurants backing the beach where you can grab drinks and food.

At the northern end of Playa de Amadores is the Ocean Fun Park, a floating obstacle course that kids will love. If you prefer something more leisurely, you can follow the Paseo Maritimo that leads from Amadores to Puerto Rico. This well-maintained walking trail offers spectacular ocean views, as well as plenty of benches where you can rest along the way.

For a day away from the beach, book a round at Anfi Tauro Golf, a challenging 18-hole golf course that opened to players in 2006. Sprawling across a lush setting dotted with lakes and waterfalls, the course was designed in an Arizona style by the renowned golf course architects Von Hagge, Smelek and Baril. Particularly impressive are the views of the volcanic mountains that back the course.
