About Diamond Beach

Set around a beautiful sweep of sand, Diamond Beach is a tranquil coastal suburb on the Mid North Coast. It’s renowned for its range of outdoor recreation activities, from hiking to fishing and surfing.

Things to do in Diamond Beach

There are six kilometres of sand at Diamond Beach that are great for soaking up the sun and surf, as well as a range of water-based activities, such as fishing and kayaking. Follow the walking trail that leads south from Diamond Head to the picturesque Shelley Beach or stroll north to where the Khappinghat Creek meets the Pacific Ocean.

On the northern banks of Khappinghat Creek sprawls the Saltwater National Park, which is home to numerous Aboriginal sites and has strong “Dreamtime” associations. Swim in the protected waters of the lagoon or explore the lush rainforest. Picnic tables and barbecues set the scene for a leisurely lunch.

Interested in the local history? Take a day trip to the township of Wingham, which was one of the first to be established in the area and still retains its Federation-era architecture. The nearby subtropical rainforest of Wingham Brush Nature Reserve is home to the photogenic Ellenborough Falls.

South of Diamond Beach lies the popular holiday haven of Forster where you can dip into the ocean baths and spot whales migrating along the coast. Take in the spectacular coastal views from Cape Hawke lookout in Booti Booti National Park and sample the plump oysters that are farmed in Wallis Lake.
