The busiest airport in Jordan, Queen Alia International Airport lies south of the capital, Amman. It’s named after the country’s former queen who died tragically in a helicopter crash in 1977 and serves as a major international hub for the country’s national carrier, Royal Jordanian Airlines.
Step inside Queen Alia International Airport’s state-of-the-art terminal building, which was designed by Foster + Partners. It features a striking roof comprising 127 concrete domes that was inspired by the traditional tents of the country’s nomadic Bedouin people.

Getting there
Queen Alia International Airport is around 40 minutes’ drive south of central Amman and 25 minutes from Madaba. Shuttle buses connect the capital city and airport every 30 minutes, with taxis also available.
