Perched atop a small hill overlooking the Adriatic Sea, Vrsar is a charming town on the west coast of Croatia’s Istria Peninsula. Legend tells of the Italian adventurer Giacomo Casanova visiting Vrsar on several occasions and a festival dedicated to love is held in his honour each summer.
Stroll through Vrsar’s old town to admire the Old Parish Church of St. Martin and its 40-metre-high Romanesque bell tower. Sweeping views across the islet-dotted Adriatic Sea can be enjoyed from the Viewpoint Casanova, which is particularly atmospheric at sunset. Several more viewpoints are dotted around Vrsar with binoculars for watching the yachts coming and going.
Travelling with kids? Don’t miss a visit to the Dinopark Funtana, where you’ll find life-size dinosaur models, family-friendly rides and entertaining shows. Alternatively, you can enjoy a leisurely cruise along the Lim Fjord or take to the skies to get a bird’s eye view of Vrsar while skydiving.
Getting there
Vrsar is just under an hour’s drive from Pula and Pula Airport and has seasonal flights to destinations across Europe. Renting a car is the most convenient way of getting to Vrsar and the town is compact enough to explore on foot.
