Granada is set at the foot of the Sierra Nevada, which makes for a stunning backdrop. Just a 90-minute drive from Malaga and 2.5 hours from Seville, it’s an easy day trip. That said, most visitors choose to stay a night or two and soak up the charm.
For a glimpse at Granada’s regal past, a visit to the Royal Chapel of Granada is a must. The elaborate mausoleum was built in the 1500s and has served as a burial site for Catholic kings and royalty, including Spain’s beloved Ferdinand and Isabella. Their marriage inspired the political unification of Spain, a legacy that lives on to this day.
