Things to do in Şufayrī
Housed in a historic fort, Hatta Heritage Village offers a fascinating glimpse at Emirati history, culture and traditions. It's dotted with beautifully preserved stone houses and palm-leaf huts, some more than 200 years old. Today they're filled with ancient weapons, handicrafts, folk costumes and traditional instruments.
Set among rugged mountain scenery, Hatta Dam is one of the UAE's most photographed destinations. Head up to the Hatta Reservoir Visitor Point for sweeping views over the emerald water. Keep an eye out for elusive Arabian sand cats prowling by the shoreline.
Suhaylah is a fantastic launching point for outdoor adventures. You can mountain bike along rugged trails in the Hajar Mountains, sign up for a birdwatching tour or paddle in Hatta Dam. Kayaks are available to rent from a small kiosk by the water's edge.
From camel treks to falconry displays, Suhaylah offers plenty of opportunities to experience the Arabian Desert. You can also organise an array of authentic cultural experiences, from overnight camping adventures to wildlife safaris.
Getting around Şufayrī
While Suhaylah sits in the Emirate of Ajman, it's just minutes from the Dubai border. Taxis and local buses are the most convenient way to get around. Suhaylah is 130 kilometres from Dubai, with the drive taking approximately 1.5 hours. Local buses also make the trip from Hatta in around 2.5 hours.
