One of the busiest stations in Japan, the Osaka Train Station lies in the Umeda district. It was one of the first railway stations in the Kansai region when it opened in 1874 and serves as a major transport hub for trains, the subway and long-distance buses.
Check the latest train information and buy regional passes at the Tourist Information Office on the first floor or purchase tickets directly from the Central Ticket Office. Foreign currency exchange offices are located nearby, as are baggage lockers and a city information booth.
Watch the trains from the bridges that link to the North Gate Building, which is packed with department stores, restaurants and entertainment facilities. Wander through the traditional Japanese-style garden of Yawaragi-no-niwa or watch the latest flicks at the Osaka Station City Cinema, then head to the rooftop Tenku-no-noem Farm.
Getting there
The Osaka Train Station is located in the heart of the city and is serviced by local subway trains and buses. Taxis are available outside the station’s Sakurabashi Gate and it’s directly connected by pedestrian bridges to the adjacent Umeda Station.
