About Kyoto International Conference Centre

Kyoto International Conference Centre, also known as the Kyoto ICC is located in the area of Takaragaike, Sakyō-ku in the city of Kyoto, Japan. The conference centre is set in an area of peace and tranquillity on the waterfront, surrounded by Japanese gardens. The Kyoto Protocol a UN framework on climate change, was signed here in addition to many international events that are held within the halls and conference rooms.

The Kyoto International Conference Centre is an interesting place to visit, as it has been designed in accordance with traditional Japanese style, yet has an individual, contemporary structure. There are several conference centres, theatres, halls and meeting rooms to explore in addition to the cocktail lounge, gift shop, and lush garden. Visitors can enjoy a stroll through the Japanese gardens or explore the Tea Ceremony House that is widely used for haiku meetings and ceremonial gatherings. There are cafes and restaurants to enjoy, open to local customers and visitors. The Banquet Hall Swan faces the Lake of Takaragaike and has amazing views of Mount Hiei. Take a stroll in the lakeside park and admire the natural beauty of the Japanese countryside blending effortlessly with the cutting edge architecture of the conference centre. If visitors wish to continue their day of exploration in this area of the city, take the train to the golden temple and gardens of Kinkaku-ji, particularly picturesque when the cherry blossom trees are in bloom, but beautiful at any time of the year due to the changing colours and reflections on the water. Alternatively, visit the Kyoto Botanical Gardens or Shugakuin Imperial Villa also nearby.

It's easy to reach Kyoto International Conference Centre from Kyoto Station. Take the Karasuma Line on the subway, trains run several times an hour and the journey takes approximately 30 minutes. If arriving from Kansai International Airport the shuttle train Haruka takes approximately 75 minutes, or limousine buses are also available from the airport taking just over an hour to reach Kyoto ICC.
