Established in 1878, the Winter Gardens Blackpool is a Grade II listed building on the Lancashire coast that regularly hosts dance festivals and darts competitions. It comprises several theatres, ballrooms and exhibition halls, as well as a 3,000-seat opera house and conference facilities where British political parties frequently gather.
Attend a musical concert, variety show or theatrical performance in the Winter Gardens’ Opera House, which is one of the largest theatres in the United Kingdom. Be sure to gaze up at the lavishly decorated ceiling of the Empress Ballroom where acts such as Radiohead, The Beatles and Queen have performed.
Adjacent to the Empress Ballroom is the Arena, which originated as a British Raj-inspired lounge before being renovated with a Roman aesthetic as a meeting and banquet venue. Also within the Winter Gardens Blackpool complex is the Renaissance Hall, the Andalusian-style Spanish Hall and the Baronial Hall, which is styled on a medieval castle.
Getting there
The Winter Gardens Blackpool is a 10-minute walk from the Blackpool North railway station or can be accessed by the number 6 and 9 buses that stop nearby. Manchester Airport and Liverpool John Lennon Airport are just over an hour away.
